Innovative Health System Initiatives

PERU’s Innovative Health System Initiatives (IHSI) team's vision is to enable health systems to conceptualize and integrate innovations to optimize service quality, patient outcomes, and cost savings, while achieving their vision for all patients and communities that they serve.

Program Areas

IHSI are grouped into five main program areas:

Care Coordination

Improves the continuum of care for patients with physical, behavioral, and substance use disorders by organizing and facilitating collaborative efforts among all providers striving to improve a patient's health and wellbeing.

Treatment Integration

Provides healthcare professionals of all types with the knowledge, skills, tools, and support to drive the successful implementation of novel interventions to improve treatment-related service delivery.

Capacity Development

Optimizes existing resources and curricula of healthcare professional educational programs to increase the number of providers prepared to address the diseases and medical complications of tomorrow that will ultimately promote positive behavior change.

Pharmacy Integration

Enhances clinical pharmacists’ role in patient care by integrating behavioral and physical health services through evidence-based collaborative care innovations.

Injury and Violence Prevention

Explores new connections between healthcare systems and community agencies to integrate innovations to reduce morbidity and mortality related to injury and violence.

IHSI is one of three multidisciplinary teams at PERU.

Our team supports organizations in the efficient implementation of healthcare innovations and ensures that the innovations are effective and sustainable.

We use principles of project and organizational change management throughout implementation to improve opportunities for success and promote effective, efficient collaboration with stakeholders.
